The People v. Leo Frank is one of the most memorable murder cases in the American justice system. This docudrama unfolds like a murder mystery with all the dialogue taken from the historical record. Frank became a “cause célèbre” in The New York Times which resulted in the expansion of anti Semitism in the American South and the re-emergence of the Ku Klux Klan. Originally shown on public television, our screening committee found this film’s subject to be so compelling they voted to include it in this season’s festival.
