Suicide bomber: two words that evoke immediate emotion in any Jew. This daunting topic is now being tackled by several young Israeli directors. For My Father does a remarkable job in addressing this “hot button” issue. The movie was reviewed in The New York Post as “a rarity indeed, a sweet, sentimental story about a suicide bomber”. It may sound strange to describe this topic as “sweet”, but the film is an absorbing and complex quest of emotion, choice and discovery with a message that there may eventually be an opportunity for a co-existent peace in the Middle East.
