When
journalist Emanuel Goldfarb is invited to speak to a
class about his life as a Jew in Germany today, his
letter of refusal turns into a soul-searching review
of his life—an insider’s view of a Jew born in
Germany in 1959. German star Ben Becker (Gloomy
Sunday, 10th PBJFF, 1999; Comedian Harmonists, l1th
PBJFF, 2000; Marlene, 12th PBJFF, 2001) gives a
vivid portrait of a man who wants only to be “an
ordinary Jew” but ultimately recognizes that his
life, along with his Jewish heritage, is very
extraordinary. A powerful one-man drama.
The Wednesday screening of this film is made
possible through the generosity of the German
Consulate of Miami. |
