Could a few individuals with goodwill and courage confront and hinder the Nazis? This documentary is about six diplomats who did that in Budapest in 1944: Raoul Wallenberg and Per Anger of Sweden, Carl Lutz of Switzerland, Msgr. Angelo Rotto of the Vatican, Angel Sanz Briz of Spain and his Italian assistant, Giorgio Perlasca. Using rare interviews with the diplomats and their assistants, with survivors and children of survivors, and juxtaposing archival footage with contemporary Budapest, this documentary provides fascinating insights into those responsible for saving between 70,000-120,000 Budapest Jews.
Filmmaker Agnes Vertes will be attending.
