The Ma’aale School of Film is a rarity the only Orthodox film school in Jerusalem, perhaps in the world. From it, we’ve selected three short films dealing with love and marriage from an Orthodox perspective.

A Little Bit Different
Rachel Scheinfeld-Gadot, director; 26 minutes

Chava, a young, ultraorthodox woman, called off her wedding a year ago. Now, a new match has been suggested for her, but when the introduction is made, she experiences sharp disappointment. Can she put aside her prejudices to give love a chance to grow?


Mary Brocker, director; 21 minutes

Hedva, a Judaic artist, has always dedicated herself to her family and her husband's career. When she is invited to Prague to exhibit her work, she must decide between going and her attachment to her home.

Cohen's Wife
Nava Heifetz, director; 24 minutes

According to Jewish law (halacha) "A Cohen's wife who is raped is forbidden to her husband"

Rivki Cohen, a young wife, who was raped when she opened the door for someone seeking charity, must wait for the rabbinnical court's decision whether her husband must divorce her.
