An offbeat comedy about a hardened mobster, who is forced to accept his father’s mortality as well as his own repressed emotion when his father is committed to an old-age home. Like Tony Soprano, Eli Amsalen has to deal with family problems his father, wife and son and small-time crooks trying to muscle in on his territory. When Eli is forced into therapy, he’s resistant, at first, but gradually it transforms him. He discovers his sensitive side, stops trying to control people with an iron fist, falls in love with his therapist, tries to get closer to his father, and even learns to cry. Just when it seems as if he’s lost his edge, Eli’s newfound subtlety becomes his most powerful weapon.
