French, Yiddish w/Eng. subtitles. 104 min.

Director Martine Dugowson and her favorite actress Elsa Zylberstein team together again (Mina Tannenbaum, 7th PBJFF) in this complex drama about two young women whose relationship is haunted by the past. As a little girl, Louba was abandoned by her Jewish mother, who survived the war in a convent, only to be killed when crossing the street and by her father who left France for Israel. In a foster home, Louba is drawn to Jeanine, who is as outgoing and flirtatious as Louba is reserved and bookish. A lurid tale of love and betrayal ensues as both become fiercely attached to the same boy. Later, as young adults living in contemporary Paris, their lives again become entangled as Louba battles the ghosts of her past to find love and to construct an identity.
