Canada, 1995. Larry Weinstein, Director
English and German w/ English subtitles. 86 minutes.

Commemorating the 100th birthday of Kurt Weill, this exciting documentary offers a reinterpretation of Weill standards ("Mack the Knife," "Alabama Song," and others) by pop culture icons Elvis Costello, Lou Reed, Betty Carter, Nick Cave, The Persuasions and William S. Burroughs. Set in a turn-of-the century warehouse, the lush sets and lighting are reminiscent of Brecht's theatre and capture the artistic edge of Weill's genius. From the producers of The Red Violin and 32 Films About Glenn Gould.
