175PALM BEACH PREMIERE With the Nazis' rise to power, the relatively open lifestyle enjoyed by homosexual men and women in Germany came to an end. Between 1933 and 1945, 100,000 men were arrested for homosexuality under the aegis of "Paragraph 175," a portion of the German penal code dating back to 1861. Six of the eight known survivors of the round-up tell their stories on screen. Directors Epstein & Friedman (The Life and Times of Harvey Milk, The Celluoid Closet) were assisted by Klaus Muller, a German historian and project director for Western Europe for the U.S. Holocaust Museum. 1999 Sundance Film Festival Award.
